Northeast meets Northwest.

It all started in San Francisco…

Alli booked a trip from Boston to the Bay area months in advance. Max decided to drive thirteen hours from eastern Washington on a whim. We met on the dance floor at Swingtacular and the rest, as they say, is history.

We were introduced by a mutual friend in the summer of 2018 while traveling for dance; over the course of the next year, we each flew cross-country to see one another as often as we could. Max finished the final months of his graduate program, but Alli still had a few more years to go, so Max traded the breathtaking evergreen forests of Washington for the coastal city charm of New England a year later. Instead of hopping on a six hour flight to practice, now we just call up the stairs (because yes, we’re an actual couple on top of being dance partners).

Over the years, our partnership has developed into a dynamic blend of Northwest creativity and Northeast precision. We pride ourselves on always growing in every aspect of our dance careers and never settling for “good enough” — even if it takes some time to get there.

Band geeks for life.

Alli has been involved in the marching arts since the age of four. She began as a majorette, then transitioned to color guard in high school and college (with a brief foray into musical theatre along the way). While she’s aged out of performing herself, Alli continues to coach and choreograph for several local groups.

Max became hooked on music in Ms. Bell’s middle school band class — so much so that he is now a band teacher himself. A saxophonist by trade, Max also plays eight other instruments.

There are no benchwarmers in band, and the ensemble is only as strong as its weakest member. It’s a whole other level of teamwork and personal responsibility. Neither of us would be the dancers we are today without the lessons we learned as performers and musicians, and for that, we are forever grateful.
